Asynchronous Neurodegenerative Biogenesis
OOC Info: The information below can be considered general knowledge. It can be assumed that your character had an opportunity to come across this information in their travels or that if they were to 'look it up', this information would be straight forward to obtain.
Asynchronous Neurodegenerative Biogenesis, or ANB, is a degenerative brain condition. ANB was first discovered by Dr. Heinrich Mueller and Dr. Wilhelm Reinhardt in 2034. The disease is undetectable through any tests, seemingly akin to spontaneous combustion and similarly lethal. There has been no known cure, as there are no clear indicators of the disease's onset and all traces of the disease are rendered unobtainable once the brain has emulsified due to the disease. Death at the hands of ANB is seemingly instantaneous, yet agonizing for the victim.
Cloning Controversy
In 2105, Andrew Hernandez, a native Mexican teen, was found dead in his home. The cause of death was presumed to be ANB, due to the telltale black, emulsified brain matter found within his skull. A week later, Andrew Hernandez' clone was released from its pod. New Light Media reported that Hernandez murdered his girlfriend, then killed himself upon finding out his previous cause of death. After releasing the information revolving Hernandez' tragic murder-suicide, Sense/Net released a report stating they would no longer store or clone those determined to be killed from Asynchronous Neurodegenerative Biogenesis. Eternalists found the ANB clone exemption to be unjust and riots ensued. A year of global riots followed, but no change followed and Sense/Net maintained their stance. Eventually, Eternalists' became fed up and began plotting terror attacks against Sense/Net and local Genetek clinics.
